Approximately 30km and 5 hours on horseback each day
In the magnificent scenery of the Lot and Célé valleys, we will follow the course of these steep-sided rivers, riding on tracks cut into the rock overlooked by impressive limestone cliffs.
Day 1: Pech Merle Equestrian Centre / Marcilhac sur Célé
We will ride along the cliffs of the Célé valley: a day following old stone tracks through untamed countryside. Picnic lunch at the outdoor country museum at Cuzal. Evening meal and overnight in 'chambres d'hôtes' at Marcilhac sur Célé, a picturesque medieval village.
Day 2: Marcilhac sur Célé / Saint Jean de Laur
Crossing the limestone upland that separates the Lot and Célé valleys. After taking various bridleways interspersed with "cazelles" (shepherds' stone huts), a stone walled track leads us to Cajarc, a lively, mediaeval town.
After riding our way up the rockface we will arrive at our stopover for the night: le Domaine de Gayfié. Eating at the manor house and sleeping in separate houses.
Day 3: Saint Jean de Laur / Cabrerets via the Lot valley, taking in the village of St Cirq Lapopie and benefitting from a great midday meal at one of the restaurants in the heart of this mediaeval village.
Returning to the centre at the end of the afternoon via the river towpath that is cut into the cliff-face.
